You're My Man is a popular No. 1 Country hit by Country legend Lynn Anderson in 1971.
This song was immediately released after Anderson's song "(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden" became a major Country and Pop hit in February 1971. The song was Anderson's career hit and topped both the Country and Pop charts in 1971. "You're My Man" was the song's first follow-up. The song was a very successful follow-up hit, reaching the very top of the Country charts again for Anderson in June of 1971, becoming Anderson's second No. 1 Country hit. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard and Cashbox Country charts. However, "You're My Man" was as big of a hit as "Rose Garden" was on the Pop charts, not even charting the Top 40, peaking only at No. 63. Anderson would never chart higher than that position again. None of Anderson's other singles would ever hit the Top 40 on the Pop charts again, but would be successful Country hits.
"You're My Man" however was a major Adult Contemporary hit, reaching the Top 10 there at No. 6, peaking only one position above "Rose Garden" on the Adult Contemporary charts. This gave Anderson another mainstream hit, despite its lack of becoming a major hit on the Pop charts. "You're My Man" spent one week at No. 1 on the Country charts, and would be one of eight No. 1s Anderson would have to come in the next few years. Between 1971 and 1974, Anderson would have her biggest success as a Country singer, achieving many Gold albums, probably in thanks to "Rose Garden"'s success and this hit, among others. The album You're Man was released in 1971, and was a No. 1 Billboard Country album, that received Gold status, one of 17 other Gold albums for Anderson to come. It also reached No. 99 on the billboard 200 albums chart that year.
"You're My Man" is mainly about the narrator describing her affection for her lover, saying there is no one else in the world for her, and she wants "the whole world to know". The song's orchestral arrangements and Pop-influenced sound made it a Countrypolitan recording, a type of Country music similar to that of Country's Nashville Sound.
