Yaizu, Shizuoka

Yaizu (焼津市 Yaizu-shi?) is a city located in Shizuoka, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 120,054 and the density of 2,617.27 persons per km². The total area is 45.87 km².
The city was founded on March 1, 1951.
The 2001 Japan Airlines mid-air incident occurred near Yaizu. On January 31, 2001, a Boeing 747-400 and a Douglas DC-10 owned by Japan Airlines narrowly avoided colliding with one another.
