FIP World Heavyweight Championship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Full Impact Pro (FIP) World Heavyweight Championship, originally the FIP Heavyweight Championship, is the top title contested for the independent professional wrestling promotion Full Impact Pro. The current champion is Roderick Strong.

The first FIP Heavyweight Champion was crowned on September 25, 2004, when Homicide defeated CM Punk in the finals of a tournament in Tampa, Florida at the first FIP show, Emergence. Homicide has the longest reign with the title, holding it for 476 days before losing it to Bryan Danielson on January 14, 2006. He also has, as of this writing, the most title defenses with 16, roughly double that of either of his two successors.

Roderick Strong successfully defended the title in Liverpool, England on March 3, 2007 against PAC. Since then, the title has been called the "Full Impact Pro World Heavyweight Championship" by FIP, yet Pro Wrestling Illustrated has not recognized it as such.
