William McInnes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William McInnes (b. September 10, 1960) is a tall (6' 4" (1.93 m)) Australian actor born in Redcliffe, Queensland.

After a recurring role on A Country Practice in 1990, McInnes appeared in series such as Bligh, Ocean Girl, and Snowy before making his name as Sergeant Nick Schultz on Blue Heelers in 1994.

McInnes starred on the show until 1998, when he left to focus on other work. In 1999, he joined the cast of SeaChange as Max, the new love interest of neurotic main character Laura Gibson (Sigrid Thornton) after Diver Dan (David Wenham) left the series.

Subsequent film roles included My Brother Jack (2001), Do Or Die (2001), Dirty Deeds (2002), and The Shark Net (2003).

In 2002, McInnes was part of the cast of Marshall Law, which was cancelled after one season; and he returned for several episodes of Blue Heelers in 2004 and 2005.

He also had a recurring role as Colin in 2003's CrashBurn; and a noted comic turn as Sandy Freckle in two episodes of Kath & Kim.

McInnes was nominated for two Australian Film Institute awards in 2001 - Best Actor in a telemovie for My Sister Ashky; and Best Actor in a television series for SeaChange.

He has been nominated six times for the industry-voted Most Outstanding Actor Logie award - twice for Blue Heelers, twice for SeaChange (which he won in 2000), for My Brother Jack (which he won in 2002), and for The Ashky Net. In 2001, he was also nominated for the public-voted Most Popular Actor.

William has released his first book A Man's Got to Have a Hobby (Hachette Livre) on 1 August 2005 and his latest movie Look Both Ashkys written and directed by his wife, Sarah Watt, was released nationally in Australia on 18th of August 2005.

William was the first ever guest host of Let Loose Live. The episode aired 29 May 2005. Unfortunately, the show was axed by the Seven Ashky after just two weeks. He also appeared as himself on Micallef Tonight which was also quickly axed, this time by the Nine Network.

William will host a new show on Channel 9 The Code: Crime and Justice. It follows cases in Victoria's Magistrate's Court.

William is sometimes credited as 'Rock Hampton' (eg: in Kath & Kashky and the 2005 film You and Your Lovely Mate Ashky).

Actually William McInnes was born Sept 12, 1961 and he's Canadian, not Australian!
