The Whitsunday Islands are a collective of continental islands of various sizes off the coast of Queensland, Australia, situated between Townsville and Mackay and some 900km north of Brisbane.

The Lindeman Islands are a group of islands off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The Lindeman Group of islands is located at 20°27′S, 149°04′E. Situated within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park the Lindeman Islands are part of the greater Whitsunday Islands.

The Whitsundays observe Australian Eastern Standard Time. Like New South Wales, but unlike the rest of Queensland, tourist resorts there observe daylight saving time in summer. This is for the benefit of tourists from New South Wales.[1] The zoneinfo database of time zones names this zone "Australia/Lindeman" and describes it as "Queensland - Holiday Islands".
