Wermelskirchen is a town in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, southeast of Remscheid. It contains an Evangelical and a Roman Catholic church and a Latin school.

It is also the birthplace of Carl Leverkus, founder of the German chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer and is also home to the world's biggest live Christmas tree.
