WWYZ

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WWYZ is a Country Station in Waterbury, Connecticut, broadcasting at 92.5 FM. It is currently owned by Clear Channel Communications, but was formerly locally owned as a sister to WATR and WATR-TV (now WTXX)

Through the 1970's and 1980's WWYZ was a middle-of-the-road station without much of a following. On September 1, 1989, the station switched to a Country music format, making it the only FM station in Connecticut with a wide reach to adapt this format full-time. The station has had considerable success with this format and through 2006 remains the only FM country music station in the Hartford area, carrying programs both national and local in origin.
