Volga-Vyatka economic region

Volga-Vyatka economic region (Russian: Во́лго-Вя́тский экономи́ческий райо́н; tr.: Volgo-Vyatsky ekonomichesky rayon) is one of twelve economic regions of Russia.
The impact of the privatization campaign in Nizhny Novgorod, the largest city in the region, results in the proportion of workers in ex-state enterprises being almost half again the national average, and the proportion in state employment nearly a third below the national average. Those feeling secure in their job and receiving their wages in full are close to the national average.
Productivity in the region is far below the reported national average, and wage levels are similarly below average. Altogether, people in the region are more likely than the average Russian to consider their current household economic situation as not bad, to consider the current state of the national economy as not bad, and to consider that their life is bearable.[1]
