Vijayanagar, Bangalore

Vijayanagar is located in western Bangalore. It is bound by the Mysore Road and Magadi Road with the Chord Road cutting through.
People started dwelling in this locality from late 70's onwards. This is a place with a sizable middle class population which is well educated and informed. Early inhabitants were employees of BHEL, KIMCO, AMCO which are located on Mysore Road.
Vijayanagar has many well recognised educational institutions, which includes the St. John's, The New Cambridge English school and Bharatiya Samskriti Vidya Pith.
There are also many temples, like Maruthi Mandir, Rama Temple and the Shani Mahatma temple near the Vijayanagar Tollgate.
It has a close proximity to the RV Engineering college, PESIT as well as the Bangalore University. National Law School of India University is also adjacent. The Sports Authority of India housed in Bangalore University is another important establishment.
Vijayanagar east, more popularly called as RPC lay out, stands for Railway Parallel Colony layout, as there is an adjacent railway track to the layout. It is however recently named as Hampi Nagar
It houses one of the largest Libraries in the state at RPC layout.
It also houses a large and well maintained Swimming pool (RPC Layout)
It is well connected to other parts of the city and has two BMTC bus depots.
