Ved Buens Ende was a Norwegian avant-garde metal band. Their sound is diverse with quiet instrumental jazz influenced sections and aggressive black metal blast beats and vocals. Ved Buens Ende means "At the end of the bow" referring to the mythological rainbow Bifröst.

Ved Buens Ende was formed in Oslo in 1994 by the drummer Carl-Michael Eide. They were signed to the British label Misanthropy Records. The band was unique by their mixture of many musical elements and Eide's crooning.

The band split up in 1997, after releasing only one full-length album Written in Waters.

They were, for some time, reincarnated in the form of the band "Virus" (formed by Carl-Michael Eide in 2000), with similar musical elements.

On April 26, 2006, Blabbermouth.net announced that Ved Buens Ende has reformed, and are working on new material.

Along with Vicotnik and Carl-Michael Eide, who now plays guitar instead of drums, there are two new members; Petter "Plenum" Berntsen on bass and Einar "Esso" Sjursø on drums. They are also members of Carl-Michael Eide's band "Virus". Many fans of the band were surprised by the absence of Hugh Mingay (aka Skoll), whose place was taken by Petter Berntsen.

The band's drummer, Einar Sjursø, had this to say about the band on blabbermouth.net.: "We will record a new album this year, to be released in 2007 by an as-yet-undetermined label (interested parties get in touch) and we also aim at playing live, where we will perform material both from 'Written In Waters' and the [post-VED BUENS ENDE project] VIRUS 'Carheart' album plus of course new compositions. The new material is being developed at the moment and will differ from both 'Written In Waters' and 'Carheart' yet still retain the trademark off the wall guitar sounds of those releases."

Ved Buens Ende also recently posted the rehearsals of a number of new songs, among which were "Flux, The Fluent" and "Shame Eclipse" on their official Myspace page which surprised and were cheerfully accepted by the fans of the band.

Early 2007 the band announced that they had once again split up.

• On December 2nd, 2006 Ved Buens Ende posted on their official Myspace page "Stranger Calm (Instrumental)", wich is very similar to the old song "Strange Calm" from "Those Who Caress the Pale" but have some differences:

• The song starts with a different riff
• The old main riff starts at 1:10
• The song has slower tempo.
• The song has bass lines
• The song has different drums
• The blast beats at 4:09 are missing.

• During the summer of 2006 Czral posted and removed after some hours 3 new tracks from the reharsals of the band. Only few people succeeded in downloading these songs, that currently are not findable on the net. The recording quality is quite good, with one guitar and drums, and the style is a fusion between Carheart and written in waters.
