Ursula Vaughan Williams

Ursula Vaughan Williams (née Lock, first married name Wood; born 15 March 1911) is an English poet and author.

Ursula Lock was born in Malta in 1911, the daughter of Major-General Sir Robert Lock. She married first Wood. She began writing poetry in 1921 and her first published collection appeared 1927.

She met the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams in 1938, and married him in February 1953. He died in 1958. In 1964 she published his biography RVW: A Biography of Ralph Vaughan Williams. Her own autobiography, Paradise Remembered was completed in 1972 but only published in 2002.

She is honorary president of the Ralph Vaughan Williams Society.
