Vasile Petru Tarlev (Bulgarian: Василе Петру Тарлев) (born October 6, 1963) is a Moldovan politician, a member of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova, and the current Prime Minister of Moldova.

He studied engineering and became a member of assorted economic councils. He was appointed Prime Minister on April 19, 2001.

Tarlev is ethnically a Bessarabian Bulgarian and was born in Başcalia, Raionul Basarabeasca. He is known as being the most popular figure in Moldovan politics[citation needed].
