X11vnc
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In computing, x11vnc is a program to allow remote access to an existing X server session via VNC. It works by continuously polling the X server's frame buffer for changes.
x11vnc is part of the LibVNCServer project and is free software available under the GNU General Public License.
x11vnc was written by Karl Runge, from frustration with x0rfbserver, an older application of similar functionality but lesser portability.
There are many programs of similar functionality; they are sometimes collectively called VNC :0 viewers [1]. Other examples include the x4vnc module from XFree86 version 4, x0vncserver from RealVNC [2], gemsvnc [3] and the "Remote Desktop Sharing" functionality in KDE.
