Usumanu Dan Fodiyo University(Formerly University of Sokoto) is one of the initial 12 federal universities in Nigeria. It is situated in the ancient city of Sokoto. It was founded in 1975.UDUSOk as it is favourably called by students and Alums alike operates two main campuses, city campus and "main" campus. The main campus house the administrative offices, sciences, social-sciences,agriculture,arts and languages, education and research facilities. The city campus hosts the College of health sciences and school of vetinary medicine. A third site host the modern university teaching hospital.

The school is named after Othman Dan Fodiyo, the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate.

The University is a four year university but also features Associate Degrees and remedial programs(Pre-degree). The university has a large and accredited medical program with its own teaching Hospital, the University Teaching Hospital,Sokoto, which is one of the largest hospitals in Nigeria and west Africa sub-region. It is mostly accessible to those of low-income and like most nigerian hospitals it does not require Health Insurance before treatment.

UDUSOK boasts of prominent Alums, both past and present including Dr Collins Oseki, a renowned medical practitioner.
