USS Barbour County (LST-1195) was named after Barbour County, Alabama & Barbour County, West Virginia. She was laid down on 7 November 1970 at San Diego, California, by the National Steel and Shipbuilding Corporation; launched on 15 May 1971. John G. Shimming was in command.
Barbour County was the seventeenth ship of the Newport class amphibious ships.
The USS Barbour County's was sunk on 6 April, 2004. The ship was sunk as a target ship by AGM-65 and AGM-84 damage at location: 022° 57' 20.0" North, 160° 05' 01.5" West Depth: 2560 fathoms Tonnage: 8500
