Tuong Lu Kim is well known for his mispronunciation of "city" as "shitty". When he answers calls at City Wok he is well known to say:

Herro, wercome to Shitty Wok, take-a order pree!

According to the DVD commentary for the episode Jared Has Aides, the character was inspired by an actual person who worked at City Wok. While Parker and Stone were mixing the sound for Orgazmo, they would phone up the person just to hear his voice. Tuong Lu Kim also uses English syntax and grammar incorrectly, also known as Engrish -- for instance, at the conclusion of Jared Has Aides (when AIDS becames okay to laugh at) he says:

  • AIDS so funny!

Tuong Lu Kim's only known relative is his wife, Wing, based on the real singer of the same name. She was shown in the episode which was named after her. Wing was imported into America by the Chinese Mafia who believed they owned her. There was later a feud between the Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny who, having signed Wing to their newly-created talent agency, believed the Mafia were agents trying to steal their client. All was resolved at the end when Stan showed the other boys and the Mafia that it's wrong to own someone's life.

Tuong Lu Kim calls Wing his "dericate ritter frower" which is a joke. It is then followed by him shouting at her in their language in an aggressive tone.

City Wok is a real location which is depicted the same as it is in real life. City Wok is also the location of City Airlines, Tuong Lu Kim's other company which was shown in It's Christmas in Canada. The boys call the number listed for City Airlines and are connected to Kim's restaurant. Initially they think they have the wrong number, but Kim proceeds to greet them again, this time saying "Herro, Shitty Airrine, take-a order prease." Tuong took Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny to Canada and just before the plane crash-landed he parachuted out.

  • Jared Has Aides- City Wok uses Butters as their very own Jared Fogle.
  • Child Abduction is Not Funny- The town get Tuong Lu Kim to build "The Great Wall of South Park" to keep out child abducters, which he refers to as his Shitty War, instead of his city wall. Unfortunately for him, Mongols show up and constantly attack his wall for no apparent reason, similarly to the Great Wall of China. He keeps shouting Goddamn Mongorians! Stop tearing down my shitty war!
  • Krazy Kripples- Timmy and Jimmy have joined the Crips and go to get some food. Tuong thinks they are part of a gang and mistakes that they are robbing him.
  • It's Christmas in Canada- Takes the boys to Canada on his City Airlines plane.
  • Douche and Turd - Tears off part of Stan's clothing before Stan gets banished from the town.
  • Wing- The boys become the agents of Tuong Lu Kim's wife; Wing.

  • Tuong Lu Kim can't be seen in the crowd scene in the title sequence. Look up however and there is a white and yellow plane flying over the town; this is the City Airlines plane. The plane can only be seen in the title sequence from Smug Alert! onwards since it was redesigned then to include Darth Chef instead of normal Chef whom had been killed and some new characters like the Crab People.
  • Although Chinese, the Kim in his name suggests he is Korean, while Tuong is a Vietnamese name. His voice is very similar to that of Korean leader Kim Jong Il in Team America: World Police, also voiced by Trey Parker.
  • Tuong Lu Kim's tendency to pronounce Rs instead of Ls is technically incorrect, as it is a Japanese stereotype, not Chinese. This contradiction may have been intentional, however, given the above information about his name.
