Trixie Smith

Trixie Smith (1895 - 21 September 1943), was a blues singer and recording artist. Born in Atlanta, Georgia.

She recorded for Black Swan and Paramount in the 1920s and for Decca Records in the 1930s. She also appeared in several movies in the '30s.

The term "rock and roll", which was black slang for sexual intercourse, appeared on record for the first time in 1922 on Trixie Smith's "My Baby Rocks Me With One Steady Roll".

Trixie Smith died in New York City.
