Triolet, is the largest village in the district of Pamplemousses in the island of Mauritius. Triolet is linked by coastal roads to the capital Port Louis and to Mapou. The village reflects the variety of cultures that are regarded as the life-blood of Mauritius. Triolet is a patch of civilisation amid green sugarcane fields and has great socio-economic value to the country as a whole.

The presence the Maheshwarnath Temple, the largest of its kind on the island, contributes to the religious significance of the village. Notably, the village was the starting point for the first-ever Mahashivaratree pilgrimage. The pilgramage began when a resident of Triolet had a vision of a sacred lake surrounded by dense forestry.

A group of sages, set out on a journey inland in search for this lake. They discovered the Ganga Talao, also known as the Grand-Bassin (literally: the big lake). Since then, all Hindus living on the island annually converge to this sacred river, the local equivilant of the Ganges River to pray on the festival of Mahashivratree which usually takes place in the month of February.

Five minutes from Triolet is the Trou-aux-Biches, which boasts one of the world's finest beaches. It is an ideal spot for holiday makers. The surrounding villages are of equal importance. There is Pointe-aux-Piment, where the island's newly opened aquarium is located and Mont-Choisy, which has a long stretch of pearly sand and warm shallow waters.

Triolet bears the name `tri` because it is divided into three parts, namely, the 7th mile, the 8th mile and the 9th mile. There are three primary schools: SIR HARILALL VAGHJEE, MAHESHWARNATH AND DANESWOCK SEWRAJ which are all government schools. By the year 2002, there were only 2 secondary schools: the LADY SUSHIL S.S.S and the INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE, but more recently two more colleges are in the process of being built. Throughout the area there are many temples, kovils, mosques and churches.
