Topal Osman, not to be confused with the earlier Topal Osman Pasha, was late Ottoman and early Turkish colonel. A veteran of the 1912-1913 Balkan wars, he is most noted for his role in the Armenian genocide, he reportedly bragged repeatedly about his massacre missions.[1] Later he joined Kemalist forces after WWI, in wich he organized the expulsions of Anatolian Greeks, and was later awarded Chief of the Personal Guard Contingent by Mustapha Kemal Ataturk. However, after strangling a deputy (Ali Sukru Bey) due to a personal matter, he was killed in Ankara during an exchange of fire with the military units sent to capture him on April 1rst 1923.[2] His body was hanged in front of the fledgling Parliament in March 1923.[1]
