Location of Tlokweng in Botswana

Tlokweng is a town located directly adjacent to the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, in the South-East District. It can be considered part of the connurbation of Gaborone. Tlokweng stands on the other side of the river, and is on the road to the border with South Africa, the border post being just 15km to the east.

Coordinates: 24°40′S 25°58′E

The name Tlokweng also features in the detective series by Alexander McCall Smith which began with 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency'. During the series, the main character, Mma Precious Ramotswe, becomes engaged to the owner of Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, the respected Mr J.L.B. Matekoni.
