List of The West Wing episodes

"Enemies" is the 8th episode of The West Wing.

C.J. tries to quash rumors that the President and Vice President got into an argument at a cabinet meeting, and Leo's daughter Mallory begins to date Sam, to Leo's dismay. Meanwhile, the staff is trying to work out how the President can sign a very important banking reform bill into law without having to give in to an amendment on the bill that would allow strip mining in Montana. Josh, by way of Donna, comes up with a solution using the Antiquities Act.

  • The episode title refers to the last scene of the episode. Josh mentions to the President that much of their work was beginning to consist primarily of talking about enemies.
  • This episode sees John Hoynes confirm that he helped deliver the south to Bartlet during the 1998 Presidential Election, although not Hoynes' home state of Texas.
  • "Enemies" is the only episode of the The West Wing's first season not to be written by Aaron Sorkin.
