The System is a radio station on WorldSpace Satellite Radio's Asiastar satellite channel 202, and is also offered on XM Satellite Radio channel 82 in North America, thanks to a business relationship with XM pre-dating the launch of the platform. On WorldSpace, the channel is broadcast only on the Asiastar satellite, covering the southern parts of the Asian continent and portions of the Middle East, and not on the Afristar satellite, which covers Africa. The System heard on WorldSpace plays a variety of dance music, from mainstream to underground to downtempo, while the format of The System on XM is focused on Trance, Breaks, Electronica, and Progressive dance music, as XM offers additional channels presenting other genres of dance music.

Artists You'll Hear: Tiësto, Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, Uberzone, Sasha, The Orb, Timo Maas, Armin van Buuren, Agnelli & Nelson, Orbital, Ferry Corsten, Solarstone, Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, BT

In December 2005, The System on XM was temporarily replaced with "Special X-Mas", a format of Christmas novelty music that had previously aired on XM's Special X channel.

As part of the plan to merge with Sirius Satellite Radio, the proposed post-merger XM channel lineup does not include The System.
