"The One with the Mugging" is the fifteenth episode of the 9th season of the sitcom Friends.

First aired: February 13, 2003

Phoebe and Ross are walking through the streets when they are stopped by a man who demands that they hand over their money to him. Ross instructs Phoebe not to panic, but does so himself when he is unable to find his wallet. Phoebe refuses, and then realizes she recognizes the mugger from her days of living on the street.

Later, when relating the story to Monica, it emerges that Ross was mugged as a child, apparently by a large man. Phoebe is shocked to realize that she was in fact the one to mug Ross - nerdy comic book boys being her "meat" - but pleased to learn that she has a childhood connection with one of the six. Ross is somewhat less enthused, until she reveals her box of 'Crap from the Street', which includes the comic book that he wrote as a teenager - the hero being 'Science Boy' who had a superhuman thirst for knowledge.

Chandler, meanwhile, takes up an advertising internship, only to discover that all the other interns are far younger than he is.

Joey gets an audition with actor Leonard Hayes. He fails to impress Leonard the first time around, but gets a second chance. He shows up to the second audition desperate for the bathroom, but is unable to go, and ends up impressing Leonard with his "nervous energy". For the third time, he prepares by drinking a lot, and Leonard offers him the part. Unfortunately, Joey is not able to contain himself any longer, and he relieves himself on Leonard.

Leonard: You're overthinking it.
Joey: I really doubt that.

Leonard Hayes - Jeff Goldblum
Lowell -Kyle Gass
