"The One With Phoebe's Dad" is the ninth episode of season two of the television situation comedy Friends.

First aired: December 14, 1995.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Monica and Rachel give out homemade cookies as tips to their mailman, paperboy, and superintendent because they're short on cash. However, the tips aren't very well received - the girls start getting smashed packages and mangled newspapers with the crossword already filled in. Ross points out that the paperboy isn't very good at the crossword, "unless 14-across - Gershwin musical - actually is 'bitemebitemebiteme.'" The knob on their radiator breaks, just before the girls are to host a Christmas party (Ross suggestes for a theme party: "Hey, here's a theme: Come on in, live like bacon.")

Trying to make amends for the List, Ross pesters Rachel to make a list about him. She does, but then he obsesses about her complaints. One of her complaints is that he doesn't ever "seize the day." At the party, he tries to do just that by tipping the super, Mr. Treeger, $100 in order to fix the girls' radiator since Ross thinks he hated their cookies. Mr. Treeger says the reason he hasn't fixed the radiator is because the part won't be in for a few more days, and he actually did like the cookies.

Phoebe confronts her grandmother about her father, demanding to know the truth. Grandma reveals he lives upstate, so Phoebe decides to go meet him - and brings Chandler and Joey along with her for moral support. However, when she pulls up to his house, she can't bring herself to knock on the door.

When the three come back from Phoebe's attempt to meet her father, they are surprised by the heat (Chandler says "Ho, ho, ho, holy crap is it hot in here!"), and Joey actually manages to turn the radiator off - just using the knob underneath. Since they went Upstate with Phoebe, Chandler and Joey didn't have time to buy Christmas presents for everyone, so they make do with things they picked up at the gas station. These gifts include windshield wipers and a bottle of "New Car Smell" for Rachel, a box of paper toilet seat covers for Phoebe (who actually liked her gift), a cola drink ("and a LEMON LIME!") for Ross, and condoms for Monica ("They're ribbed for your pleasure," explains Joey).
