The Mount is a Quaker independent day and boarding school in York, England, for girls aged 11-18. It was founded in 1831. Its preparatory school is called Tregelles, accepts both boys and girls and has a nursery department. There are 2 to 3 forms in Year 7 to 10, and 2 in Year 11 and College (Sixth Form). There are about 15 - 20 girls in each form.

The Mount School has for many years been acknowledged as one of the top Independent girls' schools in the United Kingdom. In The Times League Table, the school ranked 2nd by A-level results in the York area, with the Bootham School, another Quaker school, being the first.

Sporting facilities include 16 acres of pitches, an indoor heated swimming pool, sports hall and a gymnasium. In addition girls can opt for activities such as rowing, orienteering and fencing.

Academically the school has many traditional values and has developed ‘pillars of excellence’ in many subject areas - science, music, sports, art, drama and foreign languages.

In 2006, the 175th anniversary year of the school, a 100% pass rate in A Level was recorded across the academic subjects. In addition over 33% of the year group have gained 3 or more A grades and four students have been credited with 5 grade As, with three girls securing their places at the University of Cambridge in the coming academic year.

As for GCSE level, an overall 100% of pupils achieved a good GCSE grade in 7 or more subjects. 5 students gained one of the top 5 marks in the country in various subjects.

The current headmistress is Diana Gant. The school motto is Fidelis in Parvo, meaning faithfulness in little things. The school day begins with a meeting for worship every morning, except for Tuesdays, and Thursdays when there is a hymn practice instead. As part of meeting, the school text is sung on Thursdays and Fridays.
