The Final Season is a baseball movie (which recently wrapped production in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and is scheduled for release in 2007) starring Sean Astin, Rachael Leigh Cook, Tom Arnold, Powers Boothe, Brett Claywell, Michael Angarano, Marshall Bell, James Boddicker and directed by David Mickey Evans. Set against the rich baseball tradition of Norway, Iowa, the film tells the story of tiny Norway High School's remarkable last baseball season before the school finally shut down in its consolidation with the larger Benton Community in the 1991-92 school year. Norway's baseball team had won 19 state championships in a row and then, in that final season, they won a 20th.

On June 30, 2006, a helicopter being used to film a parade scene crashed into a field near Cedar Rapids. [1] Cameraman Roland Schlotzhauer was killed in the crash, while the pilot, Richard Green, and producer Tony Wilson were critically injured.

The Film is due out in March 2007.

Eliza Dushku was almost cast in the role Rachael Leigh Cook now plays but she lost out to Cook last minute. Word got around days before filming and the crew for the film assembled her very own wardrobe with clothes in her size. When it was confirmed that Cook had got the part the crew needed to go back and make a new wardrobe for her.
