IMDb profile

The Doom Generation is a film by director Gregg Araki. Released in 1995 it stars Rose McGowan, Johnathon Schaech and James Duval as two teenage and a 20-something punk drifters who get involved in a ménage à trois. It is the second of a trilogy of films known as the Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy, the first being Totally Fucked Up and the last Nowhere.

The film, low-budget and independently produced, was highly praised by the gay and lesbian community for its casual portrayal of fluid sexuality. It was Araki's first movie that dealt with heterosexual relationships. However, critics panned the picture for its extremely graphic violence and explicit sexuality.

Jordan White (Duval) and Amy Blue (McGowan) are punk-rock lovers who pick up a handsome drifter named Xavier Red (Schaech) while driving home from a club. A late night stop at a convenience store leaves the three on the run when they accidentally trigger a homicidal rampage that leaves the store owner (played by Dustin Nguyen) and his entire family slaughtered.

Hiding out in a cheap motel the three go on the lam from the law. Amy begins having a sexual relationship with Xavier after Jordan loses his virginity to her, even though she and Xavier do not get along. Eventually Jordan finds out, and things get tense yet intriguing as the two guys obviously have a lingering sexual attraction for one another.

As they journey across small town U.S.A. the trio continue to get into situations of intentional violence due to people either claiming to be Amy's previous lovers or mistaking her for such.

Eventually the three spend the night in an abandoned barn where they are attacked by skinhead neonazis. One neonazi rapes Amy then castrates Jordan, then Amy breaks free and dispatches them all with a garden tool, apparently leaving Jordan for dead. Amy and Xavier drive off aimlessly into the sunset while eating Doritos.
