The programme follows Basil Brush when he moves into his friend Mr Stephen's flat, as he looks after his niece and nephew while their parents are away. However, this is only clear in the first series, as the show seems to lose it's original concept and changes over the years. The show also seems to be about the characters presenting a show, as in the first episode the director walks up into the show and says that he is leaving, etc.

Basil Brush (Basil Brush), the main character in all four series. He continually makes up jokes, and uses his famous catchphrase of BOOM BOOM!.

Mr Stephen (Christopher Pizzey), a child in a mans body. His jobs include working as a hedgehog, a fishmonger in a "James Bond" like film, and a Stripping Santa Claus. He also likes to watch Postman Pat in his free time.

Molly (Georgina Leonidas), the brains of the house. She usually tells Basil and Mr Stephen to get a job, and helps out part time at Anil's Café.

Dave (Michael Hayes), who is a scammer and does anything for money. He's also secretly rich behind Stephen and Basil's back.

Anil runs the local Café, and cannot cook. He works with waitress and part time cook India (Series 2+).

Amanda (Series 1) is a Food Critic from the Daily Bugle. She goes on a date with Stephen, and then realises how odd he really is.

Ella (Tisha Martin) (Series 2) is Basil's neighbour and to Basil is "very foxy". She hangs out with the gang in the second series, but then leaves.

Mr Rosseter (Series 2-Present) is the landlord. He seems to have disappeared after Series 2, but makes a return in the episode "The Incapables" in Series 4.

Maddison (Series 3-Present) is the average blonde American. She usually says things such as, "Like, Totally!" and "Oh my god!"
