The Archie Show was the first in a long line of Saturday morning cartoon animated series produced by Filmation and based upon Bob Montana's Archie characters. The Archie Show first debuted on CBS in September 1968, and Archie Andrews and his pals appeared in various spin-off shows on Saturday mornings until 1978. Like most animated comedies at the time, The Archie Show contained a laugh track. The show lasted for 1 season and a total of 17 half-hour shows (each containing two 11 minute segments).
A typical episode would start out with the first Archie story, which would be introduced by Archie, and occasionally a different character. Next there would be a "dance of the week" segment which would start with a teaser, then after the commercial break, Archie would introduce the dance, followed by the song of the week performed by The Archies. After that would be a short joke followed by the 2nd Archie story. All 17 half-hours were presented in this manner.
The franchise's most famous effort was the music element—The Archies musical group, with vocals provided by Ron Dante and Toni Wine, produced the hit single "Sugar, Sugar" in 1969.
According to this website, "The Archies" (as the franchise as a whole is generally called) was supposedly to air in some form on Boomerang beginning July 15, 2007. However, the forums at Toon Zone have confirmed that the announcement was premature and will not air on Boomerang.

On July 31, 2007, Genius Products released The Archie Show on region 1 DVD. [1] However, it is currently not acknowledged on the company's website. Additionally, according to the packaged booklet, the negatives for the dance/song segment on one episode were lost and had to be sourced from a video transfer; not even the PAL negatives were available (many of Entertainment Rights' Region 1 Filmation releases are sourced from PAL-based negatives, including this series). The video transfer is NTSC-based. Also, the introduction to the dance segment which occurs before going to commercial was not present in the episode at all.
