Technical crew

Technical crew, often abbreviated to "tech crew" or "techies", are the behind the scenes (or backstage) men and women who control the technical running of a concert, play, musical, or other performance. In a broad sense, the participants in any production can be split into two groups: performers and technical crew; the performers are those of whom the event consists, and the technical crew designs and operates lighting, sound, scenery, and other technical aspects of the production.
What a tech crew actually does can change depending on the event. For example, during film or video production, the technical crew consists of camera, lighting, sound and scenery. For a more simple production, the technical crew might be as small as one person, since the light board and sound board are generally in proximity (usually in a tech booth). In a larger professional theatre production, tech crew can consist of sound, lights, run, flys, costumes, and props crew, as well as other more specific areas, depending on the show. Each crew has their own job that pertains to their area of expertise; sound crew handles all sound effects and microphone changes, while run crew handles any set pieces that must be moved or changed.
