Music: High Definition or MHD is a 1080i high definition music television network that first aired on January 16, 2006. MHD shows music-related content from its owner, MTV Networks, a division of Viacom. From Vail, Colorado, MHD broadcasts programming from MTV, VH1, CMT and less frequently MTV2. In its early stages and limited broadcasting, only Verizon's FiOS TV, Charter, Comcast, DirecTV, Dish Network, Cox Cable, and Time Warner Cable currently distribute MHD. Cox systems has carried MHD since March 2006 in New Orleans, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Phoenix with Boston and Atlanta getting MHD through Comcast. In June 2006, Cox began carrying MHD in the Fairfax market, where the company competes with FiOS TV, which offers the networks. Charter followed suit in St. Louis July 18, 2006, and throughout their Northern Midwest systems in early November. Time Warner Cable began carrying the channel in some regions in late December, 2006. In 2007 Service Electric Cable Television began to carry the channel for those in northeastern and central Pennsylvania. On October 4, 2007, DirecTV began carrying the network. Initially, Mitsubishi Electric Digital Televisions [2] was the exclusive sponsor of MHD and continues to partially sponsor MHD as stated in commercials during breaks.

MHD currently employs three VJs – George Oliphant, Mayleen Ramey, and Jeremy Bloom.
