Super Sonic Spinners, also known as Super Yoyo, is a Japanese manga by Hashiguchi Takahashi which is 7 volumes long. The anime is 26 episodes long and is distributed in Singapore by Odex Pte Ltd.

Super Sonic Spinners tells the story of Shunichi Domoto, a 5th grader, who is unwittingly drawn into the world of the Spinners. He is extremely talented athleticly, but not in the art of yo-yo and has no interest in it whatsoever. Until one day, Beso, a friend of his, begs him to duel a bully who challenges others to yo-yo battles and then steals their yo-yos. He refuses, but gets all fired up when a classmate, Rian, says that he's afraid. He practices very hard for three days and then challenges the bully, Benkei. Both manage to complete all 10 Basic Level tricks. Since Benkei does not have the confidence to do Super Level tricks, they decide to have a Long Sleeper duel, and Shunichi emerges the winner. Benkei retorts that Shunichi must have modified his yo-yo, but a man says that he doesn't think so. He is indentified as Kenichi Nakamura, the Japan Hyper Yo-yo champion. When told by Rian, Shunichi says that there's no big deal about being a champion Spinner. Just then, a boy called Hojoin steps him and performs some high-level tricks, showing him what a true Spinner can do. Shunichi is daunted, but challlenges him to a Long Sleeper duel, saying that Hojoin wouldn't be able to beat him in that trick. Hojoin agrees, and defeats him. After that match, Shunichi is determined to beat Hojoin in Yoyo.
Shunichi heads to Hojoin's school to challenge him. However, Hojoin refuses, saying he didn't bring his yoyo. He tells Shunichi about the Japan Championships Carnival in 5 days time, and says that he intends to join it. Of course, Shunichi joins as well.
During the JCC, he meets many different characters, like Wappa Tsuyoshi, the region's best Loop play Spinner (and later has an implied pairing with Kirisaki), Mai Kirisaki, who later achieves Warped Speed and Chuta Kogure, an extremely talented Spinner. Shunichi advances to the finals and faces Hojoin in yet another Long Sleeper duel, but loses again.
