The McCormicks are one of the poorest families in town. Stuart wears a greasy shirt, a truckers hat that reads "SCOTCH", and dirty trousers. Carol wears an "I'm with stupid" lime green top and dirty trousers. The arrow on her T-shirt is supposed to point to Stuart, but she is usually standing on the other side of him so the arrow is pointing somewhere else. Carol has occasionally been seen with a fake fur coat and a mini-skirt for church.

Mr. and Mrs. McCormick have a rather poor relationship. They constantly fight and argue (Stuart's apparent alcoholism and joblessness being frequent topics, as heard in the episode "Chickenpox"). In "Chickenlover", they appeared on "COPS" beating each other up while Kenny and Kevin laugh. Despite all this, in "Cartman Joins NAMBLA" they appear to be quite happy and decide to have another child.

Main article: Kenny McCormick

Kenny is the fourth friend amongst the boys. He used to be constantly killed in some way, before his permanent reincarnation. He wears an orange parka which he never takes off, apart from a few occasions, which causes him to have a muffled voice. It has been mentioned his mother had him when she was sixteen, confirming that his mother is 25.

Little is known about Kevin, he appears to be older than Kenny by a few years (apparently as old as Shelley Marsh) and has parted brown hair which sticks up. He rarely speaks but does speak in "Chickenlover" where he says, "Mom hit dad again!" during the "COPS" sequence with the domestic disturbance and in "Chickenpox" when he yells, "My waffle's done! My waffle's done!" after Carol argues with Stuart about being so poor that they have to eat frozen waffles for dinner every night. His voice is provided by Trey Parker and sounds like Bill, Terrance and Fosse, three of Kenny's classmates. He was also seen in "Spookyfish", when Kenny's mother tells Kenny to share his blanket with Kevin. Kevin's most recent appearance in the show was in the final episode of season eleven called "The List", where he was having dinner with the McCormick family.

A small girl is seen with Kenny's family in "Best Friends Forever"; she does not speak, and hasn't been seen before that episode. She is speculated to be Kenny's sister, but nothing about her is actually known. She appeared in "The List" eating with the McCormick family.Though she can't be seen she is actually sitting next to Kenny and towards Stuart McCormick so you can't see her.

A slightly bigger version of the little girl appears in "It's Christmas in Canada" standing next to Mrs. McCormick when the parents decide to give money to the Broflovski family instead of buying Christmas presents. You can see how the girl looks shockingly at her parents when Randy Marsh announces it.After the parents leave, she stands there shocked with Kenny,Cartman and Clyde.

It should be noted that she is never seen at South Park Elementary, only Kenny has ever appeared.

The McCormicks live in a run down old bungalow. In "Chickenpox", it is revealed the house was made by Stuart and Gerald Broflovski when they were young. Their car is dismantled in front the home and is home to stray cats and dogs. Inside it is dirty and stained. The McCormicks do not own much modern technology, as the family video game system is a ColecoVision, plugged into the black-and-white-TV (though in "Cartman Joins NAMBLA", the North Park Funland commercial is shown in color, implying that somewhere between the episodes "Chickenpox" and "Cartman Joins NAMBLA", the McCormicks procured a color television, legally or otherwise).

The McCormick family seems to be fairly religious (Roman Catholic, like most of the townspeople). Carol yells at Kenny for wanting to miss church in "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut", and Stuart stood up for the Church in "Red Hot Catholic Love", where they seem to have been one of the few families in town to have not converted to atheism. The family is sometimes shown praying before their meals, which is meant to be ironic, since their poverty means they eat little or nothing. They also continue to pray after Kenny has died on a few occasions, and Kenny's funerals, when they occur, are always religious in nature.

After Kenny's "permanent" death in "Kenny Dies", Kenny is cremated. Though traditionally cremation is not approved by Christian churches, many Christians do it anyway.

Mr. McCormick: (talking to Cartman dressed as a cop) It's just me and my wife and my brother. And my wife's cousin and his son and my brother's girlfriend, and our two kids. And my brother's girlfriend's mother, and this guy Bob who I met last year.
Cartman: (to the camera) Poor people tend to live in clusters.
Mr. McCormick: What? What did you say?
