Steve Georganas

Steve Georganas (13 June 1959–), Australian politician of the Australian Labor Party, was elected to the House of Representatives as member for the Division of Hindmarsh, South Australia for the at the 2004 federal election replacing the retiring incumbent, Christine Gallus of the Liberal Party of Australia.
Georganas was born in Adelaide of Greek parents. He gained a Business Studies Certificate at a TAFE college and worked as an underwriter and in financial services. He was a ministerial adviser to Jay Weatherill, a minister in the South Australian government, 2002-04. He contested Hindmarsh at the 1998 Federal Election and the 2001 Federal Election before winning it at the third try at the 2004 Federal Election defeating first time Liberal candidate Simon Birmingham with 50.06% or by just 108 votes (final two party preferred count)[1].
