St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School is a Catholic high school in Mississauga, Ontario, named after Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. The school opened in Mississauga in 2001, after spending a year as a holding school in Georgetown. It is a joint venture between the City of Mississauga and the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board. The school is a multi-use facility, attached to the Erin Meadows Community Centre and Library, which is part of the Mississauga Library System.

Contents

The schools that St. Aloysius Gonzaga derives the majority of its new students from are:

  • Blessed Trinity
  • Divine Mercy
  • Our Lady of Mercy
  • St. Elizabeth Seton
  • St. Joseph
  • St. Rose of Lima
  • St. Therese of the Child Jesus

St. Aloysius Gonzaga's school mascot is a bulldog. For many years this characters role was fulfilled by the same person since his arrival in the 2003 play, "Dinner In Oz".

As of the 2006-2007 school year, the uniform has consisted of either a dress shirt, tie and blazer or a Rugby style shirt, made by the tailoring company McCarthy's, as well as khaki pants or kilts (although as of the 2005-2006 school year, the kilt has been discontinued for new students). However, St. Aloysius Gonzaga's new house system is a reported improvement towards the school's overall spirit and academic enjoyment.

Student Council Elections for the 2007-2008 school year will take place during the second week of May, 2007. Prime Minister candidates include Samantha Y and Marina Faheim. Campaign trails can already be seen as buttons and cupcakes float around the school. Who will YOU pick?

The girls were anxious to put up their campaign posters, but were informed that they could not until May. They have reverted to other methods of campaigning and have definitely raised the bar for all future election campaigns (being the earliest campaigners in Gonzaga history).
