The Sonic the Hedgehog manga series was based off the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The series, published in Shogakukan's Shogaku Yonensei (literally "fourth-year student") was written by Kenji Terada and it was illustrated by Sango Norimoto.

The manga, which started in 1992, was about a hedgehog boy named Nicky Parlouzer who can turn into Sonic the Hedgehog. Along with Miles "Tails" Prower, Sonic fights Dr. Eggman.

Nicky has several friends in the "real world", including little John, his girlfriend Amy (a prototype/first incarnation of Amy Rose), a lizard bully named Anton Beruuka with his little brother, Matt, and Charmy (a prototype/first incarnation of Charmy Bee). Nicky's family at home includes his mother, Brenda, his father, Paulie, and his little sister, Anita.

Dash & Spin (Subtitled Chousoku Sonikku) is a 2-part published manga illustrated by Santa Harukaze. It was printed via the Japanese manga magazine Coro Coro Comics, who is famous for publishing many manga adaptations of video games (including adaptations of Super Mario Bros. and Rockman.EXE (MegaMan NT Warrior)).

Dash & Spin was never published outside of Japan, nor in any language other than Japanese, and is therefore hard to find elsewhere.

Dash & Spin's volumes comprise of several short stories, including omake (extra) koma stories, published as an anthology. The stories are often very slapstick. Dash & Spin includes many Sonic the Hedgehog characters, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose and Dr. Eggman.

Dash & Spin finished publishing with Volume 2 in February 2005.
