[Event Solutions] is a monthly | trade publication covering the events industry. First published by Virgo Publishing in 1996, the magazine was purchased in 2001 by current president John Baragona, the publication’s original editor-in-chief. Twelve monthly issues are published each year, in addition to the annual Event Solutions Black Book. Pat McCarrell serves as the current publisher and editor-in-chief. McCarrell was previously the Web editor for the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Event Solutions is audited by [Business Press Audits] (BPA). As of December 2006, the magazine has a circulation of 27,762 professionals from the event and meeting planning world. Of those readers, 17,964 copies are sent to planners with decision responsibility for choosing destinations and selecting outside planners, producers and suppliers, setting budgets and spending client dollars on events. Additionally 7,260 copies of the magazine are delivered in digital form to qualified Web subscribers. Digital copies are not audited, but supplementary digital distribution is estimated as more than 45,000 event professionals.

Featuring extensive color photography, content includes information for event professionals including: corporate, non-profit and association event planners, plus entertainment event planners, independent planners, meeting planners and caterers. Contributing writers are professional event planners and producers, who often write about their professional experiences.

Past feature topics include: manufacturing/rentals, production, games and teambuilding, casinos, event management entertainment, power, event marketing, convention centers, software, event sites, event planning set and stage design, travel and incentives, transportation, photography, exhibits, exhibitor profiles, green meetings and green conventions and coverage of industry events, conventions and tradeshows.

Event Solutions Annual Forecast: This research product published by Event Publishing each spring. Many subsets of the industry are included with statistics like salaries of employees, gross revenues and media consumption. Subsets include: • Corporate planners • Non-profit/Gov’t/Association planners • Independent planners • Event sites • Rental companies • Entertainment • Event services (including lighting and sound companies) • Marketing professionals • Destination management companies

The annual forecasts are broken out into three larger segments that cover the planner/client and the supplier/services sides of the event business, plus a larger forecast that looks at the state of the event industry as a whole.


Event Solutions Idea Factory: a tradeshow held each year in different U.S. locations, with educational classes and certification tracks available to participants. In 2006, it was conducted in Denver, CO. The show location for the 2007 Idea Factory will be Miami Beach, FL from August 20 - 23.
