Sigrid Thornton (born 12 February 1959) in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, is an Australian actress.

Sigrid Thornton is noted for her roles as "Jessica Harrison" in the films The Man from Snowy River (1982) and its sequel The Man from Snowy River II (US sequel title is "Return to Snowy River" — UK sequel title is "The Untamed") (1988).

She is also known for her stage roles, including an early 2000s production of The Blue Room.

Sigrid Thornton appeared in the Australian television sequel series of Father, Dear Father in Australia in 1978 (as Sue Glover).

She also appeared as Amelia Lawson, the Bank Manager, in the 1980s American television drama series Paradise.

She also appeared in numerous Australian mini-series, including All the Rivers Run (in which she appeared as Philadelphia 'Delie' Gordon Edwards), during the 1980s and 1990s.

Her leading role as "Laura Joy Gibson" in the Australian television series SeaChange (1998 - 2000) brought renewed stardom.

Sigrid Thornton played a brilliant geneticist in a four-episode arc on MDA in 2005, and appeared in the 2005 telemovie Little Oberon, a role for which she shaved her head.

Currently, Thornton is the host of the Nine Network's new health show, What's Good For You, a program which examines popular conceptions of how to ensure good health

In his book The Big Shift, about changing Australian demographics and culture, Bernard Salt coined the term the "Sigrid factor" amusingly pointing out that Australian towns in which movies had been made featuring Thornton had prospered since that time. More broadly he was actually referring to changing Australian cultural values which were well reflected in the types of places in which Sigrid Thornton had acted: the Riverland during the 1980s (All the Rivers Run) and the coast in the 2000s (SeaChange). Sigrid also starred in a movie called the FJ Holden, an Australian film.
