Shaad Ali

Shaad Ali is an Indian film director. He is the son of Muzaffar Ali (a noted film producer and director) and Subhashini Ali (an Indian politician and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist))

He started his career as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam. He assisted him on the film Dil Se (1998).

He made his directorial debut under Yash Raj Films, with Saathiya (2002). The film was a remake of Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Alaipayuthey (2000). Saathiya's script was written by Ratnam. The film was a hit and established Shaad Ali in the industry.

His second film was Bunty Aur Babli (2005), starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji. The film was a box office success.

He is now working on his third film, slated for a May 2007 release. The film, titled Jhoom Barabar Jhoom stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Lara Dutta and Preity Zinta in lead roles. [1]
