Phoenix serial killers

Since mid-2005, Phoenix, Arizona has been the home of a rare event — two serial killers operating independently at the same time in the same city. The Baseline Killer and the Phoenix Serial Shooter are believed to be responsible for 14 murders and more than 60 attacks in the Phoenix area since that time.

As of September 6, 2006, Phoenix police have arrested 42 year old Mark Goudeau as a suspect in the Baseline Killer case. Goudeau is believed to be responsible for a total of 23 crimes, including rape, kidnapping, robbery and 8 murders since August of 2005.

Authorities in Phoenix say that they have forensic evidence linking Goudeau to two sexual assaults that occurred on September 20, 2005, but are quick to note that they have not connected him to any other of the Baseline incidents. Currently, police are considering the numerous other Baseline-related cases open and subject to an ongoing investigation.

As of August 4, 2006, Phoenix police have arrested two men in connection with the Phoenix Serial Shooter case. The first suspect arrested was Dale Hausner. The second suspect is Hauser's roommate Samuel Dieteman.

America's Most Wanted has now learned that Hausner and his alleged accomplice have each been booked on two counts of first-degree murder and 13 counts of attempted first-degree murder for a series of attacks dating back to May 2005. Police say that other charges are likely since it's believed that the two men may be responsible for six murders, two arson incidents, and a total of 36 shootings.
