The title 'Send Away The Tigers' refers to something comedian Tony Hancock used to say when going to drink, and 'chase the demons away'. The title of the album itself was confirmed on stage by James Dean Bradfield at XFM's Winter Wonderland [1]

It deals with Tony Hancock and the decline of Tony Blair. The liberation of the zoo in Baghdad has also played a central theme. Tracks include 'Rendition' (vaguely based on Jack Lemmon in Missing and mixed with the CIA act of rendition). Nina Persson (from The Cardigans) also makes an appearance on 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' and 'Autumn Song' which carries on the same sort of ideals that 'Sweet Child O Mine' reflected about falling in love[2]. Further details on the album and the origins of selected songs can be found on the Manics MySpace page [3]

The first review has come from the BBC Wales Music website, which has a track-by-track look at the album [4]

Nicky Wire confirmed the album release date would be the 7th May 2007 on a record review podcast for Q magazine [5]. HMV have posted a release date of the 30th April for the first single - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough [6].

The song 'Underdogs' is to be made available as a free download and limited edition one sided 7" single on Monday March 19th as a thank you to the fans who have supported the Manics over the years[7]. The song received its premier on the Phill Jupitus show on BBC 6 Music on Saint David's Day (1st March).
