SelecTV is an Australian satellite based subscription TV broadcasting service headed by CEO Jim Blomfield (previously CEO of FOXTEL). In April 2006 the company said it had 2000 customers.[1] In August 2006, 50.1% and control was purchased by WIN Corporation. Services are carried on the PAS8 satellite.[2]
The company said that it is focused on providing premium content in comparatively low priced packages to a number of specialised market segments, including those with a LOTE first language and retires.
The company does not have access to premium sporting content but instead has focused on broadcasting packages of channels in languages other than English including Spanish, Greek, and Italian. In April 2006 it said that it was investigating introducing a 12 channel package of Chinese stations.[1] It also used to carry German and Vietnamese packages; however, they were discontinued in 2007.
On February 23, 2007 SelecTV revealed that Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery Travel & Living, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Real Time were added to the channel line-up.
