Scupi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scupi is an ancient Roman town, in present-day Republic of Macedonia. The establishment of the town is linked to the military history of the Romans and the penetration of Roman legions. After the town was ruined by the earhtquake in 518 A.D., much of the material in Scupi was used in the building of Justinian I's Kale Fortress. Today, after excavation, a Roman theatre, a basilica, a Christian basilica, a town villa, baths, burial grounds, and the main street have been uncovered.
