The Scottish Police College, based at Tulliallan Castle, in Kincardine-on-Forth, provides basic training to all new recruits to the Scottish Police Forces.

The course lasts for 15 weeks. To facilitate this training, there are mock ups of banks, houses, court rooms and shops. Following a year with their own forces the officers re-attend for a further 2 week course and assessment period. The college also provides further training to Police Officers in various specialised areas including driving, Criminal Investigation and Management and is responsible in training newly promoted officers.

The motto of the college is, BI GLIC - BI GLIC, which is the cry of the Oystercatcher which translates from Gaelic as ' Be Wise, Be Circumspect '. Oystercatchers can be found through out the grounds of the college. The Crest depicts two Oystercatchers surrounding the crest of the Scottish Police Service which is in itself surrounded by two books to signify learning.
