The Royal Army Educational Corps (RAEC) is tasked with educating and instructing British Army personnel in a diverse range of skills, the RAEC is now part of the Adjutant General's Corps.

2 July 1845 The Corps of Army Schoolmasters was formed, staffed by Warrant Officers and senior NCOs

1848 Army Schoolmistresses formed where required in support of the corps

15 June 1920 Army Educational Corps staffed by commissioned and non-commissioned personnel

1928 Queen's Army Schoolmistresses formed

28 November 1946 Renamed Royal Army Educational Corps

1962 Staffed exclusively by commissioned officers

6 April 1992 Educational and Training Services Branch, Adjutant General's Corps

From 1944 to 1992 the RAEC was headquartered at Eltham Palace. Subsequently they were based at Trenchard Lines, (the former RAF Upavon), Pewsey, Wiltshire.

A plaque at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire, UK, gives the following information:
