Rose Henderson is a recurring fictional character on the ABC television series Lost played by L. Scott Caldwell.

Rose is a woman from the Bronx, New York. She met her husband Bernard when her car became stuck in a snowbank one night. After dating for five months, Bernard proposed to her at Niagara Falls at which time Rose revealed that she was sick with an illness that went into remission but which has now recurred; she only has a year left to live. The two marry regardless, and on their honeymoon, Bernard takes Rose to a faith healer named Isaac in Australia. Despite her protests, she agrees to see him.

Isaac claimed the spot his house is built upon was a point of strong magnetic force, and he channels the force into sick people to cure them. He tells Rose that he actually cannot help her, not because he couldn't heal her, but because the place where she can be healed was somewhere else. Rose told Bernard that she had been cured, in order to stop him from wasting any more of the time that they had left together. Just before boarding the plane, she had a brief encounter with a wheelchair-bound Locke. Rose is the only living survivor who knows that Locke was once paralyzed from the waist down.

Mid-flight, Rose is left on her own after Bernard leaves to use one of the restrooms. Whilst he is away, she ends up speaking to Jack, who was sat a few seats away. Shortly after Charlie pushes past them, the plane suddenly hits turbulance. Jack does his best to comfort her up until he passes out.

Upon impact, Rose is lying unconscious on the beach. After Boone fails to properly perform CPR on her, Jack takes over and manages to revive her. A level-headed and compassionate woman, Rose is dealing with life on the island fairly well, despite being separated from her husband during the first month and half. She was in a state of shock during the first few days on the island, which Jack believed was caused by the sudden death of Bernard. Rose, however, believed without a doubt that Bernard was alive and well (this belief was later proved to be true). She was actually in shock because her illness was suddenly gone. Rose kept her illness and her miracle recovery a secret, as well as Locke's recovery.

Rose is a woman of strong religious faith. Shortly after Charlie is rescued from being hung, she approaches him on the beach, noticing his withdrawn behaviour. Sensing he is still distraught about Claire's abduction, she encourages him by telling him he needs to ask for "help". Later that night, she tells him that there is a "fine line" between denial and faith, referring to her beliefs that Bernard was still alive. He breaks down in tears, asking Rose for guidance. Admitting that she herself is unable to help him, she begins praying with him ("Whatever The Case May Be").

Rose is trusted and liked by all of the other survivors. Hurley chose to take her to the Swan bunker because she was the only person who was not curious about what was inside. Rose helped Hurley do the food inventory and talked him out of blowing up the food. Rose never liked the hatch, yet never cited why, and refused to use its facilities to do her dirty laundry.

Bernard eventually returns with the other survivors from the tail section, who ran into Michael, Jin, and Sawyer on the other side of the island. Later, Bernard forgot it was her birthday, and tried to get pearls for her with help from Jin ("The Whole Truth").

Rose and Bernard's relationship became strained when she refused to support his efforts to build a giant SOS sign on the beach. After alienating everyone who was willing to help, Bernard was reduced to constructing the sign by himself. Rose apologized to him, confessing that Isaac never cured her, but that her illness had vanished while on the island, much like Locke's paralysis. Bernard understood that she was afraid the illness would return if they ever left the island, and abandoned his attempts to escape.

• It was revealed in a deleted scene from the second season that she had had a daughter, but that she had "passed."

• Rose and Bernard have not appeared on the show since Season 2 (other than a brief cameo in Expose), but are due to appear towards the end of Season 3.

• Kate Austen was originally intended to be much like this character. While Kate was changed drastically, Rose was added so that the character could still be on the show.
