Ronald Reagan Parkway

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ronald Reagan Parkway is a limited-access highway in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The highway was spearheaded, by then-Gwinett County chairman, Wayne Mason (in the mid-1990s). The parkway was to originally end at Webb Gin House Road. The reason for the building of Ronald Reagan Parkway (and extending it to S.R. 124) was that Mason had developmental interests in eastern Gwinnett County; he wanted to build a shopping mall in the area.

Plans later to extend it as a toll road to I-85 were abandoned after public out-cry over tolls, potential traffic and the road path.

The parkway begins at the intersection of Scenic Highway (S.R. 124) and Pinehurst Road in Snellville, Georgia. It ends at the transition ramp to Pleasant Hill Road in Lilburn, Georgia.

This, like Harry S. Truman Parkway in Savannah, Georgia, is a county-maintained freeway; and it is evident in the substandard signage.
