Richard Kuranda

Richard Kuranda is an American director and artist whose work has appeared on stage, cinema and television. Born in 1969 in North Eastern Pennsylvania, Kuranda was educated by the Jesuits at Scranton Preparatory and the attended West Virginia University as a scholarship student and then the Actors Studio program at the New School for Social Research (now the New School University) from which he holds two Masters degrees.

He is the former Producing Director of The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center (a Tony Award winning LORT D Theatre). Kuranda is a lifetime member of The Actors Studio, the former Director of [[Professional Development for The Actors Studio Drama School](working under the guidance of James Lipton for four years)] and the current Artistic Director of an Off Broadway company, Epic Repertory Theater Company (known for playwrights JT Rogers, Romulus Linney, Melody Cooper and Graeme Gillis) . He served as the Head of Operations at NY's Signature Theater Company. He credits his work with Jim Houghton and Signature Theater and Animator Bill Plympton of New York as a defining moments in his development as an artist. Kuranda's first professional film work was as a teenager with Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Jason Miller. His first professional theatrical work was playing Paris in Romeo and Juliet at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild and The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. He currently is the director of the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake, Il.
