The Friends Schools are considered one of the best schools in the West Bank and Gaza Strip[citation needed], offering various educational curricula. These include Local governmental examinations: ‘Tawjihi’, American SAT examinations, and the IB curriculum. The school was able to provide the IB curriculum after being certified in 2001 by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).

The School buildings have previously been used as a hospital, a camp for refugees (in 1948) and a Turkish military camp.

The school was bombed twice by the Israeli Defense Force; once in 1967 and once in 2001 during “Al-Aqsa Intifadah”. It was also closed down numerous times during World War I and the First Intifadah.
