The Province of Milan (Italian: Provincia di Milano; Western Lombard (non-official): Provincia de Milan/Pruìncia de Milàn) is a province in the Lombardy region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Milan.

It has an area of 1,984 km², and a total population of 4,472,264 (2007). There are 189 comuni in the province (source: Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), see this link).

The new Monza e Brianza province has been created with part of the province of Milan, and will be effective in 2009. The loss of the new province's component 53 comuni, with a combined population of ca. 750,000 would leave the surviving Province of Milan with 136 comuni and an adjusted population of ca. 3,100,000 in its remaining territory. The largest city area, after Milan, is Abbiategrasso. Sesto and Cinisello have a lot more inhabitants, but they are smaller. Map locating Province of Milan
